It all started with my first sneeze. I had picked up a nasty cold, the common cold. I didn’t think much of it at first, but as the days went on, my symptoms worsened. I had a persistent cough and I was congested all the time. My head felt heavy and I was slightly feverish.
My doctor was confident that a few days rest, fluids and over-the-counter medication would help me get better. I followed their advice and the cold eventually subsided.
To prevent getting a cold in the future, I started to take certain preventative measures. I began washing my hands more often, eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, and drinking more water. I even started to take daily probiotics. I was sure to stay away from anyone who was obviously sick and to avoid touching my face too much.
Eventually, my health improved. My symptoms went away and I was able to get back to my regular activities. I was relieved to know that my cold could be managed with simple, at-home remedies. Now, I feel prepared to take on the cold and flu season!
