Itchy Bottom, by Dr. Jack Smith

Itchy Bottom, by Dr. Jack Smith

The typical day usually consists of the same routine, but today I noticed something unusual. I had a serious itch on my bottom and it was unbearable. I started to scratch and it only made it worse. I tried to ignore it, but it got worse and worse.

I went to my doctor, who told me that I had a case of pruritus ani, or itchy bottom. She said that I was not alone and that many people suffer from this condition. I was embarrassed to tell her about it, but she made me feel at ease.

She prescribed me some cream to apply and to take a course of antibiotics. She also said that I needed to keep my bottom area clean and dry, and to wear loose-fitting clothing.

I followed her instructions and thankfully the itchiness started to subside. For the first time in weeks, I felt relieved. Although it was an embarrassing condition to have, I was glad to have been in the right place at the right time and to have found a solution.
