I was born with a congenital coronary condition, a hereditary heart disorder. My parents had gone through a lot to bring me into this world and make sure that I was in the best health possible. While I was lucky to have an unaffected heart, I was still aware that that could change anytime.
Life was going smoothly until one day, when I felt a strange sensation in my chest. I ignored it for a few days, but it kept increasing in intensity. I knew then that I had to go to the hospital.
The doctor delivered the news that the condition had become active in me. He recommended a strict lifestyle to ensure maximum cardiovascular health. I knew exactly what that meant – no restaurant food, no late nights, no stress, and no smoking.
It was hard to adjust to this new way of life but I was determined to beat this challenge. I started exercising regularly, eating healthy, and keeping away from all the things that could potentially harm me.
Years passed and I was doing better than ever. After years of hard work, I completed my journey and became a healthy person. I was incredibly proud of myself for having the strength and courage to overcome such a rare and dangerous health condition.
Now, I am the most vocal supporter of leading a healthy lifestyle and advocate for others to do the same. I am thankful to have been given a second chance and will always strive to bring awareness to others affected by congenital coronary conditions.
My story is one of hope and determination, and I’m thankful to be able to share it with the world.
