I know that I have Epilepsy, and it has been a difficult journey. When I was first diagnosed, I was scared. But I pushed through and I realized that I had to fight in order to overcome this disease.
I went through a lot over the years – there were drugs that didn’t work, there were mental and physical health complications, and there were plenty of frustrating days. But I was determined to stay strong and never give up.
I started reaching out to other people with the same diagnosis, and I learned that there were so many stories of people who had fought and won. I began to believe that I could do the same.
I worked carefully with my medical team to find the medications and treatments that worked for me. I also began to use other therapies such as mindfulness, yoga, and aromatherapy in order to reduce my levels of stress and anxiety.
These treatments worked, and the seizures eventually began to decrease. I felt a new strength that had been growing inside of me, and I was able to reclaim my life.
Today, I am seizure free and I no longer let my Epilepsy define me. I have a job, and I’m able to enjoy life to the fullest. My seizures are no longer a barrier to achieving my dreams and goals.
I’ve come a long way since my diagnosis. Epilepsy is no longer in control – I am. I’m proof that you can fight this disease and win. I thank God every day that I’m able to live my life in triumph.
