Pain, sorrow and darkness. These are the three things I thought of when I heard the bad news – I had Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. I was in disbelief, but it was true – my life had changed in an instant. As I learnt more about my disease, I realized that I had to overcome this difficult challenge.
My fight against Multiple Myeloma started with intense chemotherapy, which I found to be one of the toughest things I had ever experienced. Having to go through daily treatments and feeling the effects of chemotherapy made me unsure if I could get through this. But I had to remain positive and focus on why I was doing this – for a chance to be cured.
The treatments left me tired and weak, and I had to adapt to a whole new routine and lifestyle. But I wasn’t alone – my family and friends supported me every step of the way, and they inspired me to remain hopeful.
Through all of this, I realized that life is full of obstacles, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t overcome them. I had to dig deep, and muster all of my strength to face my Multiple Myeloma head on. I knew that I couldn’t give up, and I had to get through this for the sake of my future.
Thankfully, I was able to successfully complete my treatment, and my Multiple Myeloma went into remission. I was ecstatic, and all of my hard work had finally paid off. Through this journey of mine, I came to the realization that with a positive attitude and determination, anything is possible.
Today, I am living life to the fullest and hoping that I never have to relive this terrible experience. My Multiple Myeloma memoir is one that I hope to inspire others with – a story of resilience and hope in the face of adversity.
