My name is Sarah, and I’ve been living with Lupus for the past 7 years. It’s been a long, hard journey, but I am determined to stay strong and keep fighting.
For those of you who don’t know, Lupus is an autoimmune disease. This means that my body is essentially attacking itself, causing inflammation and damage to organs and tissues. It can be very painful and debilitating and has left me struggling with daily tasks.
At first, I didn’t understand why my body was doing this. I had never been chronically ill before and the idea of having an autoimmune disease was really foreign and scary. I spent a lot of time and energy trying to figure out what I could do to help manage my health, which often meant more time in the doctor’s office.
Fortunately, I eventually found treatments that work for me. I take medications daily to control my symptoms, and I often have to modify my activities and lifestyle to keep myself healthy. It’s still a battle, and I often feel overwhelmed, but I’m better equipped to deal with it now.
I’ve come a long way since my diagnosis, and I’m hopeful for my future. I have to remain ever mindful of my health and constantly adjust my lifestyle to accommodate my chronic illness. Life with Lupus isn’t easy, but it isn’t impossible either. With proper care and support, I’m determined to keep fighting this disease.
