It all started when I began to feel pains in my pelvic area. That was two months ago and since then the pain just kept getting worse. I had to take days off from work and school to just lay in bed and cry. The pain was getting unbearable and I knew something was wrong.
After several exams and tests, the doctor identified that I had an ovarian cyst. The news terrified me because I wasn’t quite sure what it was and what it could be doing to my body. I was scared and thought that I had a life-threatening disease.
My doctor explained to me that an ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that grows on the ovary and can cause pain. It was relieving to hear that it was nothing serious, but I had to go through a lot of pain to get to the diagnosis.
My doctor prescribed me a round of medication and some physical activities like yoga to help me lessen the pain. I wasn’t very keen on taking medication but I had to do something to get back to my normal self.
I had to take care of my diet and do a lot of walks in order to get healthy and be free of this cyst. I also started counseling to help me cope with the fear and anxiety of getting my ovarian cyst. The journey had its ups and downs but eventually I managed to get out of this tough situation.
Currently, I’m back to my normal life and I’m taking all the preventive measures to avoid the reoccurrence of an ovarian cyst. I’m so thankful of all the support I got from my friends and family during this process. This time around I have all the knowledge and skills to battle this issue if it ever pops up again.
